MAY 6, 2013 – 1:00 P.M. – Telephone interview with The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. The 42-minute interview has become part of the museum’s Oral History Collection, an archive of more than 1,000 individual accounts. Included are interviews with eyewitnesses, law enforcement officials, Kennedy family acquaintances, schoolchildren, authors, researchers, and over 100 members of the news media. The museum hopes that the collection will construct a more complete portrait of the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy and of the history of the 1960’s in a way that history books cannot. I shared my recollections of the president’s unforgettable “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech in Berlin on June 26, 1963. The oral histories are available to the public. For additional information please visit www.jfk.org.

Walled-In is my story of growing up in Berlin during the Cold War. Juxtaposing the events that engulfed Berlin during the Berlin Blockade, the Berlin Airlift, the Berlin Wall and Kennedy’s Berlin visit with the struggle against my equally insurmountable parental walls, Walled-In is about freedom vs. conformity, conflict vs. harmony, domination vs. submission, loyalty vs. betrayal.
